CDF Munir Meets Global Leaders at the 62nd Munich Security Conference
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, senior German officials, and several other international dignitaries on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, according to the military’s media wing.
ISPR reported that CDF Munir visited Germany from February 12 to 14, where he met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional and global security trends, strategic stability, and counterterrorism cooperation.
Munir also held meetings with key German officials, including Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior; Günter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Adviser to the German Chancellor; and General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence of the Federal Armed Forces.
According to ISPR, these high-level engagements focused on contemporary security issues, bilateral defence cooperation, and strengthening peace and stability through both bilateral and multilateral dialogue.
Engagements With Other International Leaders
On the sidelines of the conference, CDF Munir met Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, to discuss ways to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.
He also held discussions with General Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Armed Forces of Lebanon, covering regional security developments and opportunities to enhance military collaboration.

The 62nd Munich Security Conference is being held from February 13 to 15, 2026, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and Rosewood Munich. Led by Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, the event brings together hundreds of global policymakers, military leaders, and experts to address prominent global security challenges.
Nearly 50 heads of state and government are participating, including key European leaders and a major German delegation led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
